A unique collaboration for a special cause, Burundiology: Wake Up and Give is a multi-styled Christmas album done in support of Burundi Friends International, a non-profit (501, c3) organization based in San Diego, CA that seeks to fight poverty in Burundi, Africa by providing education, health care and self sustaining enterprise opportunitues.

Produced by Julie Marner and Tom Griesgraber, Wake Up and Give features contributions from no less than seventeen area musicians including vocalists Laneé Battle, Jim Gibson, Nikki Mcdonald, Lovella Cacho, Jennie Ehren, Paul Infantino and Diana Baines and instrumentalists Tom Griesgraber, Julie Marner, Teresa Rauch, Ryan "Rymo" Moran (Agent 22, Slightly Stoopid), Daniel "Dela" Delacruz (Slightly Stoopid), John Rekevics, Luah Yousif, Patty McCormick, Aileen Fahme, and Al Clark.

Musically adventurous arrangements range in style from R&B and funk/rock leanings to latin jazz, world music, New Orleans stylings and classical performances, giving truly fresh twists to old favorites.

The estimated population of Burundi in 2012 is 10.5 million with 46% under the age of 15. The country is similar in size to the state of Maryland. The average annual income is $140. Due to Burund's 12-year civil war, 300,000 people were killed and 1 million displaced. Burundi has 823,000 orphans, 1 out of every 5 children. BFI shipped a 40 foot container of medical supplies, books and clothing to Burundi in 2012. In 2010, BFI donated funds to the people of Kirari village who then partnered with the World Bank. In sum, the village received over $140,000 of assistance for new school facilities. BFI is sendind 22,000 English textbooks through Books for Africa and plans to build a library in Cibitoke which will allow hundreds of Burundians to learn English, a vital step towards stability and independence.
